The City of Valdez, Alaska seeks the services of a qualified planning consultant to revise the existing Comprehensive Plan. Last updated in 2008, the revised Comprehensive Plan will guide future growth and development, zoning changes, capital investments as well as many other land use planning and goals.

The Comprehensive Plan is the foundation for determining effective public policy, master planning and land use decisions now and in the future. It provides an ongoing framework for informed, directed development and decision making.  The revised plan shall include goals, objectives and strategies while utilizing maps, graphs, charts and other imagery to analyze, assess and recommend best practices for housing, infrastructure, economic development, environmental protection and other planning efforts. A main objective of the plan update is to reflect and respond to priorities, values and requirements of the City of Valdez residents while safeguarding the City’s history and sense of place. This includes enhancing the economic productivity and diversification of the area for continued economic prosperity; providing for public safety and the economic welfare of the community when siting future industrial, commercial, residential, and public land uses; enhancing the scenic beauty, uniqueness and historical significance of the Valdez area; and opening up new land for residential, commercial and industrial uses. City Council and commissions will look to this document for guidelines to prioritize decisions regarding future development and updates to existing infrastructure.

Submissions will be accepted now through December 13, 2019 at 4:00 pm Alaska time.

Complete proposals must be received at the Valdez City Hall, 212 Chenega Avenue, Valdez, Alaska 99686 by 4:00 pm on December 06, 2019. Proposals can be submitted in person, via email to Kate Huber or mailed to:
