City Manager Mark Detter Has Resigned
For immediate release: 04/11/2023, 9:00 a.m.
Valdez, AK – Valdez City Manager Mark Detter has resigned from his position with the City. Mr. Detter was hired in 2019 and will be recognized for his steadfast guidance for the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Valdez appreciates the years of service and leadership Mr. Detter has provided administratively and throughout the community.
In his notice to the Mayor and City Council, Mr. Detter said, “I appreciate the opportunity to serve the City of Valdez and the Valdez community.”
Mr. Detter is leaving the city to accept the role of Assistant City Manager in Emporia, Kansas, allowing him to be closer to his family.
At this time, there is no announcement regarding a process to replace City Manager Detter. Information will be forthcoming following the official acceptance of his resignation at the upcoming City Council meeting on April 18.
