Housing Land Development Grant Program

The Housing Land Development Grant Program is intended to promote the development of housing in areas that are in conformance with the Comprehensive Plan and can be accessed within the City of Valdez, Alaska in order to promote the public health, economic stability, safety, expansion of housing capacity, and welfare of the residents of the City. 

Scoring Criteria for Determination of Eligibility

  1. Properties must be developed within two (2) years from the date of application
  2. City Staff will use the Housing Land Grant Policy to determine the overall eligibility and grant funding

Application Procedure

  1. Prior to commencement of any development, property owners must complete the application.
  2. Preliminary Approval - The City Manager will certify that the application, property, and proposed new development meet the criteria of the Housing Land Development Program
  3. Notice of Final Approval and Release - The City Manager will release the grant upon completion of program

Further Terms and Conditions

  1. Any property that is delinquent in payment to the City of Valdez of real estate tax and/or assessment will be ineligible to receive grant through the Housing Land Grant; however, the City, at their sole discretion, may reinstate property one time after being delinquent on the taxes or assessments during the life of the property's participation in the Housing Land Development Grant Program.
  2. The City of Valdez will issue grant funds upon compliance with terms of approved Developer's Agreement

Program Period

The Housing Land Development Grant Program will terminate on December 31, 2024, unless terminated sooner by City action. The termination date of December 31, 2024 represents the deadline for filing an application for this program. Developments approved under this program must completed within of approval of the application.
