The Water and Sewer Treatment Utility is comprised of four full-time staff who are responsible for the daily operations of providing quality drinking water and treating domestic waste for the City of Valdez. There are three Class A and one Class B public drinking water systems providing over 1.8 million gallons of water a day to the residents of Valdez.
Eight pump stations move approximately 920,000 gallons of sewage a day to the treatment facility where it is treated in an aerated, complete mix, three-stage lagoon system. The staff also maintains a certified laboratory for performing microbiological analysis of drinking water.
It is our constant goal to provide a safe and dependable supply of water at the lowest practical cost and maintaining our wastewater discharge in compliance with the Clean Water Act.
