Library Cards
You are eligible for a library card if you are a temporary or permanent resident of the City of Valdez. Residents must apply for a card in person at the library and have available a picture ID and proof of a local P.O. Box. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive a library card.
Visitors to Valdez may sign up for a Temporary Card. There is a $5 fee and the card is active for three months. Temporary card holders may check out two items at a time.
Circulation Periods
- Books, audiobooks, magazines, and CDs: 28 days
- New books: 14 days
- DVDs: 7 days
Renewals
Library items may be renewed online, in person, or by phone. Most items are eligible to be renewed up to two times. Items with holds will not be renewed and should be returned by the original due date.
Fine Free
The Valdez Consortium Library is now fine free. No fees will be charged for late items, as long as they are returned. Items that are lost or damaged will still incur fees.
The Valdez Consortium Library accepts donations of books, CDs, and DVDs. We do not accept magazines. It is the decision of the library staff what donated items will be placed in the collection.
