COVID-19 Information & Updates

The health and safety of our community, program participants, and staff remain our top priority. Safety Guidelines

We ask that all program participants and facility users please abide by the following activity and facility guidelines for the health and safety of our community, participants, and staff. These measures have been put in place to keep our facilities and programs open and available to the community. 

  • Stay at home and do not visit any facility or participate in programming if:
    • You or anyone in your household feel ill or are experiencing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.
    • You have knowingly been in contact with a suspected positive case of COVID-19 within the past 14-days.
    • Within 72 hours you have exhibited a fever 100.4 or higher.
  • Face masks or cloth face coverings are strongly encouraged, including during physical activity.
  • Sanitize your hands upon entry to all facilities and regularly throughout your visit.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water on a regular basis.
  • Maintain a physical distance of six (6) feet from all non-household members. Consider wearing a face mask or cloth face covering when you cannot maintain six (6) feet of distance.
  • Vulnerable individuals are discouraged from participating in all Parks & Recreation programs at this time.

Helping Protect Our Community

To best help protect the health and safety of our community, participants, and staff, Valdez Parks & Recreation has implemented the following cleaning and safety measures.

  • Staff and facility specific health and cleaning protocols. 
  • Physical distancing measures.
  • Face masks or cloth face coverings strongly encouraged (except when swimming).
  • Enhanced sanitation and hygiene protocols, including cleaning equipment, restrooms/locker rooms and high-touch surfaces on an increased basis.
  • Modified programs and activities, to keep participants active and engaged.
  • Modified check-in process for registration based or instructor led programs, where participants and parents/guardians will be asked to answer a series of health screening questions relating to COVID-19 for the participant. The answers will be recorded on the sign-in sheet. 
  • Contact tracing sign-in sheets for all drop-in based programs (gyms, rock wall, etc.), where participants and/or parents/guardians will be asked to sign-in with their first and last name, and provide a valid contact number in the event of any potential exposure.
  • Increased signage throughout all facilities.

Gym & Rock Wall Activities are currently open to the public on a modified and limited basis with increased hygiene, cleaning and sanitation, and physical distancing protocols. To see what gym and rock wall activities are currently being offered and to register, please visit our online catalog.

General Guidelines

Contact Tracing:
Participants are required to sign-in with first/last name, and phone #.
Face Coverings:
Strongly encouraged; including during all physical activity.
Physical Distancing:
Please maintain physical distancing of six (6) feet.
Open with increased cleaning.
Drinking Fountains:
Closed at this time. Please come prepared with a full bottle of water.
Max. Capacity:All activities are limited to 30 participants at this time.
Facility Rentals:
Rental requests are being accepted on a limited basis at this time.

Activity Specific Guidelines

Adult Volleyball:No activity specific restrictions at this time.
Adult Basketball:No 5v5 games at this time and no more than 4 users per basket.
Pickleball:No activity specific restrictions at this time.
Rec Gym:No activity specific restrictions at this time.
Rock Wall:Limit of 30 climbers; climbers must sanitize their hands before and after each climb.
