All other City facilities and departments will continue to operate as usual unless otherwise directed by the City Manager. The city will provide additional updates as the situation changes. For updates, please visit the City website: or find the City on Facebook:

Due to our current health situation, PRCS has determined it is in the best interest of all involved that we postpone our Valdez Eco-Stewardship Program (VESP) to Summer 2021. It is unfortunate, but necessary. For those students who have submitted their application materials…PRCS will keep those applications for top consideration into next summer’s program. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate the support of the community in our upcoming programming.

Our Monthly Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting (generally held the second Tuesday of each month) is also canceled until further notice.

We would like to apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation during this time.

The Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department operates and maintains the city’s numerous parks, recreation areas, and recreational service programs for residents and visitors. The department also partners with many community and state organizations to bring new, exciting ideas into its programming to enhance the community’s quality of life.

Let us know if you would like to make a program or general suggestion!

Additional Functions

The Parks and Recreation Commission acts as an advisory board to the City Council. Parks and Recreation Commission meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm in the Valdez City Council Chambers. The public is always welcome.
